Summer Institute 2019

There will be NEW LEARNING, GOOD DISCUSSION and PRACTICAL INITIATIVES with a focus on INTEGRATION OF BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW. It has been acknowledged in conversations and in conference feedback responses that many administrators and teachers have a limited foundation of intentional and incidental biblical integration within their daily roles.

COURSE 1: [Teacher Stream] BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW INTEGRATION: Addressing issues such as exploring foundational beliefs of a biblical worldview, clarifying a philosophy of Christian education, identifying connections between curricular content and biblical truth, gaining practical skills in integrating biblical perspectives within the curriculum.

COURSE 2: [Administrator Stream] ADMINISTRATIVE LEADERSHIP: The Ministry of Education and partners have created a Leadership Development Framework that outlines 19 competencies within 5 key areas of professional practice (1. Setting Strategic Directions  2. Leading the Organization  3. Ensuring Accountability  4. Developing People  5. Building Relationships).  Those competencies will be used as an organizational framework to address a range of highly relevant topics foundational to school leadership within a collaborative and interactive classroom setting. 

Topics under consideration include (but are not limited to):

Visionary Leadership; Building a Christian School Culture; Instructional Supervision; Leading vs Managing; Building a Team; Workplace Stress (work/life balance); Responding to Student Issues; ProD; Hiring Practices; Ministry Requirements–the next 3 years; New Curriculum; Trends in Education; Budget/Financing; Marketing/Promotions/Branding; Parent Conflicts; Society’s Values; Building a Healthy Relationship With Your Board; Building a Character Strategy; Creating/Selling Big Ideas; Importance of Updated & Relevant Policies; Dealing With Current Issues of Society and the Impact in Your Schools.

Depending upon the number of participants, the Administrators’ course may be broken into two cohorts – 101: “Introduction to Leadership” and 201: “Leadership Distinction” with the two courses distinguishing between the different levels of experience of the participants.
